The Indiana Public Employers’ Plan, Inc. (IPEP) is excited to announce the City of Union City as a recipient of its 2019 safety grant award. IPEP is proud to partner with Fire Chief Steve Shoemaker, Mayor Bryan Conklin, and City Manager Monte Poling of the City of Union City and Mike Gilbert from ONI Risk Partners to maximize opportunities to promote a safe work environment and assist withe stretching their risk management resources. The grant funds will be used to purchase safety equipment or safety training programs that will reduce or limit workers' compensation exposure.

"The City of Union City has been a member of IPEP for over 24 years. The community has

benefited from the expertise IPEP brings to municipal issues, as well as the quality training and support IPEP provides. The provided training has increased the safety awareness of our staff exponentially and has been the driving factor behind new safety policies.

Thanks to a grant from IPEP, we were able to purchase a Stryker Patient Loading System for our Emergency Ambulance. This system allows for the easy loading of even obese patients without risk of lifting injury to our EMS personnel. Loading patients in the past, has been a source of a number of back injuries; this system will help prevent most if not all of those injuries from recurring. We very much appreciate IPEP’s support of our community!"
